Programme Components

Education Programme

Key modules on strategic issues to generate debate, solutions and insight into the challenges of leading complex change across the wider public sector. The Education Programme focus on core areas such as Leadership, EDI, Politics and Change, and Global Trends.

Virtual Mentoring

Developing individual skill set shifts through an innovative approach to virtual mentoring. Participants will be matched  with an external mentor who will challenge and open thinking to new insights.

Stretch Assignment & Virtual Action Learning

Participants will work in teams (virtual action learning sets) to undertake a stretch assignment based on one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. 

Virtual Learning Platfrom

Each participant will have their own individual learning account that will provide access to virtual learning that supports the development of critical leadership skills.

Who should apply?

The aim of Stepping Up is to curate a diverse talent pipeline that will change the leadership landscape in organisations, encourage diversity of thought and a culture where difference can flourish.

Stepping Up is a positive action programme for Global Majority, disabled (seen and unseen), Neurodiverse, LGBTQI+, non-binary and those transitioning, Women (all ethnicities including white British and those presenting as women) You do not need a formal qualification, nor is there an upper or lower age criteria It is all about diverse talent and potential.

The programme would benefit members of staff led groups, work in project management, nursing professional services, administrative and supervisory roles who want to progress their career.

Prospective participants may also have been encouraged to apply as part of an organisation’s internal talent management processes.

HOW LONG IS THE PROGRAMME
The Programme is 9 months and 15 days of study involving hybrid modules, virtual peer learning, virtual mentoring and a team-based stretch assignment.

Stepping Up isn’t just a leadership programme it is much more. It is a holistic immersive experience that positions participants to excel in their current role and step up and achieve their future career goal.

PROGRESSION
At the end of the programme participants can apply to undertake a Master’s in Public Administration and leadership at University of Portsmouth.
