Welcome to Stepping Up Diversity Leadership
Stepping Up aims to unlock potential and develop talent while ensuring a fair representation of BAME, disabled people and women in positions of leadership.
The programme has achieved remarkable outcomes in the acceleration of career development and enhancing civic leadership across Bristol and the wider area.
Stepping Up has recently been awarded 'Best Diversity and Inclusion Program' and 'Overall Winner' of the CIPD People Management Award 2020 as an example for 'Diversity as its Best!'

Returning after three successful years, Stepping Up Bristol Cohort 4 offers to support participants’ professional and personal development via a unique curriculum of blended learning - offering workshops, modules, learning sets, mentoring and assignments.

External Mentoring provides an equitable experience for both participants and mentors. Measurable impact analysis illustrates how Stepping Up Mentoring increases leadership capabilities for both Mentor and Mentee.
The Stepping Up virtual learning platform provides a high quality, impactful learning experience, with trackable data on impact measures. Participants are rewarded at each stage of the learning journey with badges and certification. On completion of the programme, participants graduate at a Civic Reception hosted by the Mayor of Bristol.

Supported by an ecosystem of partners (drawn from the public sector, universities, corporates, SMEs and non-profit organisations), Stepping Up creates a unique mentoring experience which has evidenced the participants' confidence levels to rise from 37% at the beginning of the programme, to 93% by the end. It is the lift in confidence and skills that has produced impressive progression rates of over 60% of all participants.
