IWD2023

It was an honour to join IWD2023, as well as to take part in the vibrant festivities organised by Bristol Women’s Voice at Bristol City Hall earlier this month.

We felt privileged to be part of such a special day where women of all backgrounds, ethnic origins, gender identification, born as or in transition; were celebrated for their talent, ambitions and achievements.

Industry leaders, creative entrepreneurs, SME owners, social activists, community supporters, performance coaches, as well as academics were all here to celebrate women's finest achievements in the business and cultural life of Bristol City.

Stepping Up was proudly represented by Prof. Christine Bamford (CEO/  Programme Director), our core team of Directors (Dr Jane Lewis, Kam Govind, Debra Newrick, Helen Sinclair-Ross) and the supportive participants from current and past cohorts.

Our marketstand attracted a lot of visitors eager to know more about our flagship programme (Stepping Up Inclusive Leadership) with some applying on the day. Our attendees enthusiastically discussed their skills, strengths and ambitions, and how our training would help them grow as influential leaders.

IWD2023 partner organisations showed a keen interest in our 'Get Ready' programme, a short course designed to help underrepresented professionals to define their career goals, prepare the next stage of their career, as well as to apply for our leadership programme.  'Get Ready' will run for a new edition shortly - join our newsletter to stay posted about the next intake!

We were also delighted to introduce Stepping Up to new aspiring mentors, and to answer how they could help change the landscape of inclusion by nurturing the development of diverse leaders.

The day was rich in meetings, events, screenings, and culinary delights - we felt at home sharing our vision of a better society for women with our valued partners including UWE, 91 Ways, Hargreaves Lansdown, Avon and Somerset Police, Voscur, Ashley Community & Housing - and much more - all actively involved in panel discussions and advocacy forums.

We thank Bristol Women’s Voice and all the contributors of the event for hosting this special day dedicated to the celebration of women from Bristol and around the world.

We look forward to contributing to the next edition of the event.
